The Peace Bridge in Derry
Donegal, Derry and the Causeway Coast
Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Inishowen Peninsula and the Glenveagh National Park together with a trip across the border to the Antrim Coast on this tour based at a superior hotel on the banks of Lough Foyle. Our itinerary is based upon sailings from Cairnryan but crossings from Holyhead to Dublin and overnight stops can be arranged, if required.
The Giant's Causeway • Inishowen Peninsula • Malin Head • Glenveah National Park • Donegal
Day 1 Ferry crossing via Cairnryan and on to Moville for a 4 night stay.
Day 2 Travel south for an included visit at the open-air, Ulster American Folk Park which encapsulates life in the 1800s and early 1900s when many Irish residents emigrated to America. Explore the recreated streets, shop fronts and other buildings from both sides of the Atlantic, meeting costumed characters along the way. Afterwards, spend time at leisure in Derry-Londonderry, the UK City of Culture in 2013.
Day 3 This morning, take the ferry across Lough Foyle and into Northern Ireland for a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Giant's Causeway. Explore the fascinating basalt stone columns left by volcanic eruptions 60 million years ago or, as legend would have it, the stepping stones of the giant Finn McCool! The state of the art visitor centre offers an enhanced visitor experience. Handheld multimedia devices provide a flavour of this history, stories and experiences of the Causeway.
Day 4 Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the county of Donegal and the Inishowen Peninsula with its traditional villages and unspoilt beaches. Experience breathtaking views from Malin Head before continuing around the coast via the popular seaside town of Buncrana and on to Letterkenny. Continue through Glenveagh National Park and around the Blue Stack Mountains to Donegal Town.
Day 5 Ferry crossing to Scotland and homeward journey.
