World War I Battlefields
The battles which took place in The Ypres Salient and The Somme between 1914-18 were on a massive scale and left countless thousands dead. 100 years later, a visit to the WWI battlefields of the Western Front is an unforgettable journey and insight into the terrible suffering which a generation of young men endured. It is possible to trace and visit the graves of war heroes local to your school and students will be moved by the chance to participate in the moving Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate, the traditional final salute to the fallen which takes place daily in memory of the soldiers of the former British Empire and its allies.
