Highlights of the North West

In addition to highlighting the stunning countryside and picturesque villages of the Ribble Valley, this tour includes a ride on the famous East Lancashire Railway and a barge trip on the Lancaster Canal. There is something for our food lovers too with a fish and chip lunch and visit to the Chocolate House.

Bury Market • Fish & Chips • Chocolate • Heritage Railway • Lancaster Canal Cruise

Day 1 Travel to the hotel in Lancashire.

Day 2 First stop today is Oswaldtwistle Mills Shopping Village and Garden Centre. After browsing at leisure here, meet your guide for a tour of the Ribble Valley. On then to Bolton for a traditional lunch at the Olympus Fish & Chip Restaurant, a firm favourite of visitors to Bolton. Allow free time in the city centre this afternoon.

Day 3 Travel to Bury for some free time to explore the famous market. Board the East Lancashire Railway for the journey to the delightful village of Rawtenstall in the Rossendale Valley. This afternoon head to Blackburn for a visit to The Chocolate House, well known in the North West for their handmade chocolates and truffles.

Day 4 Following time at leisure in the popular seaside resort of Morecambe, travel to Lancaster for an included one and three quarter hour Lune Aqueduct cruise. See the Victorian city center before heading out into the countryside to the aqueduct. On a clear day, the view from this 100-foot monument will leave you astounded. Depending upon the operator's schedule (particularly weekends from May to Sept) the cruise may be a 50 minute horse-drawn barge cruise from Barton Grange Garden Centre.

Day 5 Homeward journey.
