Historic Houses and Gardens of Lincolnshire
Our Lincolnshire based tour features a variety of excursions including: the palatial Burghley House, which featured in the movie 'Pride & Prejudice'; Barnsdale Gardens, created by TV gardener Geoff Hamilton for the BBC’s 'Gardeners' World' programme; and the International Bomber Command Centre, located on the outskirts of Lincoln and set within 10 acres of landscaped 'Peace Gardens'.

Day 1 Travel to the East Midlands with an optional visit to Belton House en-route (additional cost applies).
Day 2 A scenic drive this morning through the county of Rutland for an included visit to Barnsdale Gardens. The individual gardens include a wonderful variety of designs, plant species and horticultural techniques. Time permitting, visit the small town of Oakham before arriving at Rutland Water reservoir for a relaxing cruise and a chance to view Rutland’s most famous landmark, Normanton Church.
Day 3 This morning is a visit to the International Bomber Command Centre, which opened in 2018. The interactive exhibition tells the stories of those who served, supported and suffered during the bombing campaigns of World War II. See the Walls of Names, Ribbon of Remembrance and Spire Memorial, the UK’s tallest war memorial and once the sighting point for crews based in the area. This visit is accompanied by a guide. This afternoon is at leisure in the historic city of Lincoln with its stunning Cathedral and pretty streets.
Day 4 This morning will be a thoroughly enjoyable visit to the magnificent Cecil family home that is Burghley House. Following an introductory talk with tea and coffee, explore the Elizabethan ancestral home of William Cecil with its dramatic state rooms surrounded by a splendid Capability Brown parkland design. This afternoon is at leisure in the attractive town of Stamford with its old world charm and prosperity.
Day 5 Homeward journey.
