Malta's Knights and Prehistory
Malta is a sunshine island with 7,000 years of history and legend, famed for its hospitality and friendliness. Heroic tales trace their way from Homer's Odyssey to the crusading knights of the Middle Ages, the British Empire and the partisans of WWII. As the countryside is dotted with medieval towers, wayside chapels and the oldest known human structures in the world, the Islands have rightly been described as an open-air museum. With its rugged beauty, sleepy villages and lively resorts it is clear why Malta remains so popular.
