Spanish Fire Festivals
Spain is a country that keeps its traditions alive. Local festivities are varied and colourful, and some are internationally famous. One of the most popular 'fiesta' in Spain is the Fallas in Valencia. This spectacular event consists of the construction of massive sculptures of mainly satirical themes, which are burnt on the night of Saint Joseph. The sculptures are flammable and the workmanship is excellent; they are truly works of art which take months to build and decorate. Just one of the fallas will be pardoned each year and won't be burned.
