The Wye Valley is home to beautiful countryside, ancient forest, prehistoric archaeological sites, sumptuous gardens, magnificent ecclesiastical architecture and unique artifacts of worldwide significance. Our tour's highlights includes a visit to Hereford Cathedral to see the remarkable Mappa Mundi and the only surviving Magna Carta letter signed by King John. Also, a visit to the Clearwell Caves and the lovely Hampton Court Gardens. An optional visit to a local vineyard can also be included.

Day 1 Travel to Ross-on-Wye, with a possible en route visit to the historic town of Worcester with its magnificent cathedral where King John was laid to rest.
Day 2 Morning guided tour of Hereford Cathedral, home to both the 1217 "final" Magna Carta and the unique covering letter by King John. The cathedral is also home to the Mappa Mundi, one of the oldest maps in the world. Continue to Hampton Court Gardens before following the "Black & White Village Trail" through the picture postcard villages of Eardisley, Kingsland, Pembridge, Weobley and Monkland.
Day 3 Morning visit to Symonds Yat for a cruise on the River Wye through the lovely scenery of this renowned beauty spot. This is followed by a break at the Old Court Hotel before continuing south along the River Wye by coach do visit the gothic ruins of Tintern Abbey and the well preserved Chepstow castle, possibly the first stone castle built in Britain.
Day 4 The unique history of the Forest of Dean includes Clearwell Caves, a working mining museum where visitors can see impressive caverns which have been actively mined for iron ore and ochre pigment for over 4,500 years. Continue to enchanting Puzzlewood Ancient Forest, an open cast mine used by early man and Romans, now overgrown by huge trees, moss and lichen which inspired Tolkein to create Middle Earth. Return to Ross-on-Wye through the Forest of Dean.
Day 5 Return home by coach.

The Chase Hotel, Ross-on-Wye
The 3 star Chase Hotel is a historic country house, conveniently located within a 10 minute walk of Ross-on-Wye's town centre. The hotel is impressively located in 11 acres of parkland, which is mainly laid to lawn. There are 36 en-suite bedrooms each equipped with Sky TV, tea & coffee making facilities and trouser press. The hotel does not have a lift or any ground floor rooms. However, a wide staircase with shallow steps leads to the first floor where half the bedrooms are located. All public areas and the hotel entrance provide level access.
