Day 1 Short Channel crossing. Overnight in the Metz area.
Day 2 Travel through Germany and into Austria to the hotel in Matrei in Osttirol.
Day 3 A day to relax in Matrei in Osttirol. This small town sits in a valley surrounded by 2 of Austria’s highest mountains, the Glossglockner and Grossvenediger. There are a selection of shops, a centre dedicated to the Hohe Tauern National Park, and cable cars to the local peaks to explore.
Day 4 Take a journey to the bustling town of Mayrhofen. Make a stop enroute at Krimml Waterfalls, the highest in Europe. Continue over the Gerlos Pass and drop into the Ziller Valley and Mayrhofen. Journey back to the hotel via the Ziller Valley and Kitzbühel.
Day 5 Full day excursion beginning with a journey through the Hohe Tauern National Park. Travel along the stunning Glossglockner High Alpine Pass with spectacular views of the glacier and peak. Enjoy the afternoon in the charming regional capital Lienz. This medieval city is known as the ‘Pearl of the Dolomites’ with city walls and museums to explore.
Day 6 A scenic day travelling north to the colourful alpine town of Kitzbühel. Time to discover the medieval centre with its many cafes and shops. Continue to the lakeshore town of Zell am See, and take a cable car ride, lake cruise or a trip on the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn narrow gauge railway.
Day 7 Leave Matrei in Osttirol, travel through Germany and stop for dinner and an overnight stay near Metz.
Day 8 On to Calais for a short Channel crossing.
