Day 1 Channel crossing. Overnight in the Reims area.
Day 2 Take some time to explore Reims and its magnificent cathedral before travelling southwards, past Nancy and into the Alsace region for a 4 night stay.
Day 3 The historic heart of Colmar is only a short drive from the hotel. The Old Town is home to countless half-timbered houses and numerous Alsace and Renaissance architectural treasures. A full day here is recommended to discover this pretty town and perhaps sample the local wines and cuisine.
Day 4 Travel northwards to the wonderful city of Strasbourg, one of Europe’s most attractive cities. Located close to the German border, the city has real charm and is famed for its timber framed buildings with the historic centre now listed as UNESCO World Heritage site. There are numerous places of interest including the Gothic Cathedral and museums. A canal cruise through the city is highly recommended.
Day 5 A full day excursion travelling along the scenic Alsace Wine Road. With vineyard clad hills and the mighty Rhine flowing through the region, there are many pretty towns and villages to visit. A highlight is Riquewihr which, with its distinctive fortifications, is classed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. A stop in Ribeauvillé is also highly recommended for its unique mediaeval ambiance.
Day 6 Leave the Colmar area and travel north through Luxembourg and the Ardennes for dinner and overnight stay near Brussels.
Day 7 Short Channel crossing to Dover and home.
