Day 1 Channel crossing. Overnight in the Metz area.
Day 2 Travel into Germany and Bavaria for a 5 night stay in Ingolstadt.
Day 3 A day at leisure in Ingolstadt. The hotel is within walking distance of the old town with its many museums, shops and cafes, as well as the riverside gardens of the Klenze Park.
Day 4 A full day excursion to the city of Nuremburg. From its mediaeval centre to its WWII history, there are many places of interest to visit. These include the castle which dominates the skyline, as well as the Memorium Nuremburg Trials documentation centre. Be sure to try the city's famous Lebkuchen gingerbread biscuits.
Day 5 A scenic day exploring part of the famous Romantic Road. Start the journey in the pretty town of Nördlingen im Ries, the only one in Germany which retains its original and complete town walls. Continue to Harburg, with its cobbled streets and impressive castle. End the day in Donauwörth, located where the river Wörnitz meets the Danube. This colourful town offers museums, a monastery church and plenty of shopping possibilities.
Day 6 Travel to the mediaeval city of Regensburg, considered the most beautiful in Germany. The centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has numerous places of interest including its historic Cathedral, many museums, squares and alleyways. This vibrant city has an abundance of cafés, restaurants and bars.
Day 7 Leave Germany and stop for dinner and an overnight stay in the Metz area.
Day 8 Short Channel crossing to Dover and home.
