Liberation Route... War and Peace

Brabant and central Holland is a land of contrasts, offering glimpses into the vibrant and artistic past and the more recent period of occupation during the Second World War. Our tour provides a similar contrast with a full day in Arnhem uncovering the history of the Battle of Arnhem followed by a day of exploration in beautiful 'S-Hertogenbosch and Heusden.

Arnhem • Airborne Museum • Canal Boat trip • Heusden

Day 1 Channel crossing and on to Holland.

Day 2 Meet the guide to see Arnhem, visit Airborne at The Bridge and Oosterbeek Cemetery, resting place of over 1700 soldiers from the Battle of Arnhem. Then visit the Airborne Museum and Hartenstein Villa, where the stories of British, German and Polish soldiers are told,

Day 3 To 'S-Hertogenbosch capital of Brabant. This 12th century city is a gem. We include a guided town walk, a canal boat trip underneath the city and a visit to a local café for coffee and a Bossche bol, a glutinous traditional cake. In the afternoon visit the 17th century city of Heusden, a beautiful fortified city with countless restaurants, little boutiques and squares.

Day 4 Journey home with the possibility of a stop in medieval Bruges or Gent en-route.
