Gardens of Madeira

Situated in the mid-Atlantic, the island of Madeira is lapped by the waters of the Gulf Stream, with warm comfortable summers and mild winters encouraging lush foliage. The volcanic terrain is spectacular with deep ravines and towering cliffs providing stunning scenery right across the island. Madeira is known as the 'Island of Flowers', with exotic plants thriving throughout the year, ensuring that the botanical gardens are renowned. Our tour includes visits to gardens, viewpoints, scenic drives and the lovely capital city of Funchal.

Day 1 Fly from London direct to Funchal, the capital of Madeira.

Day 2 Guided tour to Câmara de Lobos, a fishing village where Winston Churchill used to paint. Continue to the Picos dos Barcelos viewpoint and the spectacular beauty spot of Eira do Serrado before reaching Monte.

Day 3 A free day to explore or enjoy the hotel facilities.

Day 4 Full day Western Island Tour, including Cabo Girao with the second highest sea cliffs in the world (at 580 metres), the summit of Encumeada from which both sides of the island can be viewed, Porto Moniz village with its volcanic swimming pools and the 1400 metre high plateau of Paul da Serra.

Day 5 A free day to relax.

Day 6 Tour exploring the best of Madeira's gardens, including the Botanical Gardens, Quinta da Boa Vista Garden and the Municipal (Dona Amélia) Garden. Why not finish the tour with an optional Madeira wine tasting at the Madeira Wine Lodges?

Day 7 A day at leisure.

Day 8 A leisurely morning before the return flight to the UK.
