Day 1 Fly to Lisbon where you will be met at the airport and transferred your hotel.
Day 2 Full day guided tour of Lisbon, beginning with the Monastery of Jeronimos, commissioned following Vasco da Gama's historic voyage and financed largely by monies made from the spice trade. Continue to the Belém Tower guarding the entrance to Lisbon's harbour, the botanical gardens and the Museum of Ancient Art.
Day 3 Travel to Mafra, famous for its Baroque and Neoclassical palace. Proceed to Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site that was once the summer residence of the royal family. Stop at Cabo da Roca, the most westerly point of Europe, and Estoril, where the royal families used to live in the summer.
Day 4 Today starts with a morning guided tour of the Tile Museum, housing a unique collection that represents 500 years of decorative azulejos (ceramic tiles). Continue to the Moorish Castle of São Jorge that occupies a commanding position overlooking the city of Lisbon and the Tagus River beyond. Finally, explore the Alfama quarter with its Kasbah-like layout.
Day 5 Morning guided tour of the Queluz Palace and gardens. This magnificent pink palace is the country's finest example of Rococo architecture. Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
