Day 1 Channel crossing. Overnight in the Metz area.
Day 2 Through France, travel into Switzerland and on to the Hotel Kreuz & Post for a 5 night stay.
Day 3 A day at leisure in Grindelwald. Explore the village, take a cable car into the mountains or travel to nearby villages via a local train. Those wishing to enjoy the hotel can relax in the cosy café and enjoy the spectacular view of The Eiger.
Day 4 A morning excursion to the pretty town of Thun, known for its wooden bridges and the raised pavements of the historic Obere Hauptgasse. In the afternoon we include a trip on the spectacular Jungfraubahn Railway. Boarding in Lauterbrunnen travel to Kleine Scheidegg, which lies below the Eiger's infamous north face. Here change trains for the dramatic descent to Grindelwald.
Day 5 An excursion across the Brünig Pass to Lucerne. Free time to discover this lovely city including the wonderful historic centre, the Lion Monument, the long promenade and the elegant shops. Return to the hotel via the town Meiringen, where Sherlock Holmes reputedly met his death.
Day 6 Full day excursion to the elegant resort of Interlaken. Built on a narrow valley between the two lakes of Brienz and Thun, the setting is beautiful. Free time to explore the historic centre and perhaps enjoy a leisurely cruise on either Lake Thun or Brienz.
Day 7 Leave Switzerland and stop for dinner and an overnight stay in the Metz area.
Day 8 Short Channel crossing to Dover and home.
This region has many opportunities to include trains and cable cars within an itinerary. These include Brienz Rothorn Railway, the funicular train between Mürren and Allmendhubel and the cable car to the summit of The Schilthorn.
