A Canadian Trail

Harking back to a legendary frontier past, the Rocky Mountains of Canada are quite simply breathtaking. Running through the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, the range covers a diversity of terrain. Rugged snow-capped peaks look down on idyllic towns and settlements, while deep forested valleys and gorges lead to crystal clear mountain lakes, hidden far away from the hustle and bustle of the world.

Banff • Lake Louise • Moraine Lake • The Kootenays • Okanagan Valley • Whistler • Vancouver

Day 1 Fly to Calgary arriving early afternoon.

Day 2 Travel to the pearl of the Rocky Mountains, UNESCO listed Banff, gateway to the first national park established in Canada.

Day 3 Full day excursion today to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Lake Louise is known as Canada's 'Diamond in the Wilderness' and has numerous hiking and walking trails. The region abounds with spectacular scenery, from glaciers to waterfalls. Moraine Lake is only half the size of Lake Louise but is even more scenic. It's a glacier-fed lake in the beautiful Valley Of The Ten Peaks and remains frozen into the month of June. We will also have the option to ride the famous Banff Sulphur Mountain Gondola.

Day 4 Today is free for independent sightseeing in Banff.

Day 5 Travel into the Kootenays, a beautiful area of The Rockies. Visit the heritage town of Fort Steele where the houses have been reconstructed as they would have been at the end of the 19th century and the staff are dressed in period style. We continue to Cranbrook for an overnight stay.

Day 6 Continue towards Nelson, 'The Queen of the Kootenays'. Surrounded by stunning mountains and set on the shores of a pristine Lake, Nelson has been called the prettiest small town in Canada and is home to over 350 restored heritage buildings.

Day 7 Today is free for independent sightseeing in Nelson.

Day 8 Travel into the Okanagan Valley, one of the warmest regions in Canada, characterised by wineries and flower carpeted meadows. Kelowna is the largest city bordering Okanagan Lake.

Day 9 From fertile valley to high mountains, today's journey takes us to the Alpine style resort of Whistler, a former Winter Olympics venue, with its extensive paved pedestrianised walkways, shops, restaurants and frequent street entertainment.

Day 10 Experience the most exciting gondola ride in Canada on the longest and highest cable-car in the world. From incomparable views of towering volcanic peaks to coastal rainforest. Disembark for scenic walking trails, mountaintop restaurants, wildlife viewing and indoor interpretive displays.

Day 11 Today follow the Sea to Sky Highway down to Vancouver. Discover soaring mountains, dramatic waterfalls and scenic ocean vistas.

Day 12 Full day guided tour of the highlights of Vancouver. Often voted one of the world's best cities to live in, it is a modern, multicultural and friendly city with a good climate. The tour includes the lively harbour, Stanley Park, historic Gastown and fascinating Chinatown.
