Day 1 Travel to the hotel in Lancashire.
Day 2 To Bury for some free time to explore the famous market before boarding the East Lancashire Railway for the journey to the delightful village of Rawtenstall in the Rossendale Valley. On then to Oswaldtwistle Mills Shopping Village with the opportunity to browse or have a bite to eat before meeting your guide for a tour of the picturesque Ribble Valley and its charming villages.
Day 3 First stop today is St Helens and a visit to The World of Glass. Uncover the story of what made St. Helens great from its humble beginnings to its rise as a world leader in Glass making. See captivating collections of glass ranging over hundreds of years, its far-reaching influence and at midday, be entranced by the skills of a glass blowing demonstration. Next, hop over to Bolton for an included traditional late lunch at the Olympus Fish and Chip Restaurant followed by time at leisure.
Day 4 Travel north for a guided tour of Leighton Hall, the ancestral home of the world-renowned Gillow furniture family, which is still a family home today. Then to Lancaster, for an included one and three quarter hour Lune Aqueduct cruise. See the Victorian city centre before heading out into the countryside to the aqueduct. On a clear day, the view from this 100-foot monument will leave you astounded. Depending upon the operator's schedule (particularly weekends from May to Sept) the cruise may be a 50 minute horse-drawn barge cruise from Barton Grange Garden Centre.
Day 5 Homeward journey.
