Highlands in a Nutshell

A wonderful tour, taking in many of the expected sights the Highlands offer, together with some unexpected, but no less enjoyable, additions.

Fort William • Moray Coast • Lossiemouth • Brodie Castle • Inverness • Dunrobin Castle

Day 1 Travel north with an overnight stop in Dumfries.

Day 2 Scotland's biggest, boldest scenery awaits as you journey north along scenic Loch Lomond and glorious Glen Coe. Take time at leisure in historic Fort William, before arriving at Beauly, your base for 4 nights.

Day 3 The beautiful Moray Coast awaits today, as does admission to the magnificent turreted Brodie Castle, with its playful garden and over 400 varieties of Daffodil. Depart for time at Brodie Countryfare and the lovely traditional town of Forres, winner several times of ‘Scotland in Bloom’. Travel along the coast road, passing the traditional fishing villages of Burghead, to Lossiemouth with its two wonderful sandy beaches, before a scenic return to the hotel.

Day 4 A full day to the city of Inverness. Savor a cruise on the Moray Firth with its abundance of wildlife, keeping an eye out for the frolicking dolphins. Explore the historic city with its Botanic Gardens, 19th Century Cathedral and its many shops and cafes. Our tour price also includes the services of a local coach and driver today, while your driver has a rest day.

Day 5 Today we venture north along the east coast to Golspie and a visit to fairytale Dunrobin Castle. Enjoy the magnificent gardens and views across the sea before heading to the lovely historic town of Dornoch with its independent shops and cafes. On your return, you may choose to travel back around the lovely peninsula of Black Isle, part of the North Coast 500, though it is anything but black!

Day 6 Travel south for an overnight stop in Dumfries.

Day 7 Homeward journey.
