Day 1 Travel north to Wemyss Bay, for a late afternoon ferry to the pretty little Island of Bute, your base for 2 nights. 15 miles long and less than 5 miles wide, the western side of the island is well known for its beaches, some of which enjoy fine views over the Sound of Bute towards Arran.
Day 2 A relaxing morning followed by a scenic tour of the island with a stop at Mount Stuart, an outstanding and flamboyant Victorian, Gothic style mansion with beautiful gardens within a 300 acre estate. Continue around the island allowing time for photo stops at the stunning bays of Scalpsie and Ettrick.
Day 3 A short hop this morning from Rhubodach to Colintraive. Journey further north with a recommended stop in Inveraray where a visit to Inveraray Jail living museum can be included for an additional cost. On then to Oban for time at leisure, before the crossing to Mull. Soak up some of the magnificent scenery of the island before arriving at the hotel for a 2 night stay.
Day 4 Scenic excursion around Mull including a foot passenger crossing to the legendary Isle of Iona, burial place of 48 ancient Scottish kings. We also recommend a visit to the colourful town of Tobermory to the north of the island.
Day 5 Depart Mull this morning and journey to your overnight stay in the Dumfries area. Stops in Tyndrum and Loch Lomond can be recommended en-route.
Day 6 Homeward journey.
