Lake Garda, Verona and the Dolomites

Lake Garda offers a contrasting landscape, from rolling hills and vineyards in the south, to steep mountains and olive groves in the north. As in all of Italy, the local cuisine and wine are splendid. To the north of the lake are the Dolomites and the comparatively undiscovered area of the Brenta Nature Park with many quiet artists towns and an unspoilt landscape peppered with small lakes. To the south east of the lake are Venice and Verona, cities of World repute.

Valley of the Lakes • Historic Sirmione and Riva • Visit Verona or Venice • Lake Boat Trip

Day 1 Short Channel crossing to Calais and then south through the Ardennes and Luxembourg. On then for dinner and an overnight stay in the Metz area.

Day 2 We suggest a route through Bavaria, into Austria and around Innsbruck before traversing the Brenner Pass to arrive in Italy. On to Lake Garda in time for dinner.

Day 3 A full day to relax, enjoy the hotel facilities and explore.

Day 4 There is so much to see and do around the lake. We recommend an excursion to the lakeshore resort of Torbole and the picturesque town of Malcesine, which is dominated by its imposing castle.

Day 5 An excursion to Verona, famed as the setting for Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Julie' and renowned for its Roman Amphitheatre. With such a rich history, we suggest the inclusion of a city guide for a half day sightseeing tour.

Day 6 From Riva we recommend an excursion to the Valley of The Lakes and Brenta Nature Park to include Canale, Comano Terme and Lake Toblino.

Day 7 Sadly it is time to depart from Italy. Relax and enjoy the Alpine views en route to the Metz area for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8 To Calais for inbound crossing to Dover and home.
