Day 1 Fly to Oslo, transfer to the hotel for a 2 night stay.
Day 2 This morning enjoy a guided tour of Oslo. See the Royal Palace, the Akershus Fortress, Frogner Park and the Opera House. Designed by the Norwegian architects Snøhetta, it is the first opera house in the world to let visitors walk on the roof. The afternoon is free to explore.
Day 3 Depart Oslo on the Bergen Railway, one of the World's most scenic train journeys. Started in 1875 the railway took 34 years to complete and involved a workforce of some 15000 men. On arrival in Bergen make the short transfer to the hotel and check-in for a 3 night stay.
Day 4 We include a morning guided sightseeing tour of Bergen. Highlights include the Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf, the Fish Market, the traditional wooden houses and the vibrant shopping streets. In the afternoon we include a trip out to Troldhaugen, the old home of the composer Edvard Grieg. He composed many of his famous works here and the trip features his villa, composers hut and museum.
Day 5 Enjoy either a full day at leisure in Bergen or join our optional 'Norway in a Nutshell' excursion to include the fantastic Flåm Railway and a boat cruise through Aurlandsfjord and Naeroyfjord. Those who remain in Bergen will have the opportunity to further explore the city.
Day 6 Travel to Bergen Airport to join the inbound flight back to the UK.
